First time here & we loved it! Restaurant is on the basement so its easy to miss. Place is spartan looking but clean. Service is fast & efficient. We ordered the creamy udon & my niece loved it. The salmon & pork tonkatsu was also good. All are orders came out delicious & fresh. We came for lunch & we find the price fair & reasonable. I would come back again!

A little bit chaotic but a lot of fun, this small hidden spot was quite crowded on a Saturday early evening. Bar space is small while you wait but bartender was quick and friendly. We waited about 35 minutes with no reservation before being sat. The menu is extensive and portions are quite large. We started with the Kani fritters, got 3 sushi rolls, and the pork katsu with chicken curry. The curry was fantastic but doesn't come with side of rice so make sure to order some. Sushi was good and filling, we definitely didn't need 3 rolls. It's a spot with a bit of spotty service but food was good and drinks were fantastic but the old fashion didn't have enough drink to even cover the ice. Definitely would love to come back again!

Wow this place is IT. The drink was incredible but the real stars of the show for me were the okonmiyaki and the karaage. The atmosphere had an energetic buzz which reminded me of the izakayas I went to in Kyoto. Highly recommend this spot but it does get very busy around dinner time. Side note, one employee was extremely friendly and brought a great energy, shouting welcomes and overall just very happy and excited to be there. Not sure what his name was but he really seemed to love his job which shows how great this place really is.

We walked in an hour before closing on Saturday and got seated in about 15 minutes. At the bar area, we ordered drinks before we got a table. The place was full and popular. We got the kushiyaki set, karaage, deep-fried takoyaki, and fried squid. The buta potato skewer had mashed potato and thin pork belly, which was tasty. Everything was good and came out in a timely manner.

We went to Izakaya MEW, while in NY, and waited about 15 minutes with a reservation. The staff was very attentive and the food was high quality. I got the kimchi creamy udon and my mom got sushi and both were delicious. Food came out fast and the meals came with seaweed salad and miso soup. The environment was bustling but still felt homey with all the decor and warm service. Would definitely go back during our next trip!

Have you ever been recommended a hip, Korean/Japanese spot in Midtown and been skeptical by the recommender and not by the food? Because this was me, but the food, drinks, and ambiance here at Izakaya MEW are chef's kiss that I want to gate keep so bad but also shout from the rooftops about this restaurant! If you're not able to get a Resy, would recommend stopping by around opening as they are quite accommodating (if your party is small). We've ordered: Oh! Kiwitachi Fall in Toki Yuzu-Kiki Hotate Carpaccio Okonomiyaki Sashimi Don Kimchi Cream Udon Dragon Ball Roll Empire Roll You'll definitely get decision paralysis from the multiple pages menu, but that just means there's something for everyone. The customers skew millennial, but there's a good mix of age and diversity. Can't wait to come back and try more of the same/different food on the menu. P.S. The music they play here makes you wanna sing along-a lot of throwbacks of nostalgia!

WOW 10/10 everything!!!! Food was really amazing, all the sushi was super fresh and the best part is that the price was so good! We were a group of 4 and with appaetizers, a sushi roll for each and 1 dessert to share the price was $130 for the 4 of us!!!! So like a said, amazing price. Service was nice and fast and the place is underground, so you have bricks all around you giving you that cozy feeling

Finally made my way to Izakaya MEW and I already want to come back. This hidden spot under the basement has so much variety with Asian-inspired dishes. Everything also came out quickly and service was great! We started off with some drinks and I had the Yuzu-Kiki ($16) while my friend had the Take Me Home ($16). I love an Asian-inspired cocktail, so this caught my eye. The drink is pretty, tasty, and quite strong too. For food, we shared the Kimchi Cream Udon ($14.95), Omu Soba ($14.95), and Salmon Carpaccio ($10.95). These were all popular dishes as I saw many other tables also order similar items. The salmon carpaccio was as expected with a touch of pesto. The dishes I'd definitely come back for again are the kimchi udon and omu soba. They are so different in their own ways but both so delicious. Love the various dishes you can get here, so there's something for everyone.

4.5 stars I came with a friend to check out their weekday lunch specials. They have really good lunch specials! Service was fast and we were seated immediately. There was a good amount of people there during lunch time. We ordered the simmered mackerel lunch special and the gyudon. Both came with miso soup and a small side. The side we got today was a spicy tofu that was pretty good. The simmered mackerel was perfectly tender and the sauce was delicious too. The gyudon was not bad but I would said it's average. The ambiance is a bit dark and service was okay. They did come around to let us know when they were closing the kitchen for dinner and to put in any last orders for lunch. Overall, the lunch special was really good value but I wouldn't say it's the best food I've ever eaten. I would check out the other stuff on their lunch special maybe the chicken nanban.
